Below the penthouse are 9 levels of private villa suites 2,300 – 2,500 sq. ft., each with its own pool forming a cascade of waterfalls. Privacy is enhanced by the lush tropical plantings abundant on each balcony.

The splendid temperate climate of Puerto Vallarta has enabled architect Edward Giddings to create totally open living spaces, protected from sun and rain by native thatched “palapas”. The walls of the villas are made from huge river stones and sculptured white cement. Accents of natural materials that abound in this tropical fantasy situated along the “Gold Coast”, Ocho Cascadas’ location is unequaled in Puerto Vallarta. The lush mountain jungle is a backdrop for the never ending blue sky and the ever present glistening Pacific.

Puerto Vallarta today is a thriving community devoted largely to tourism. It supports a variety of small businesses, hotels, stores and restaurants. Although at its core it is still the fishing village it once was, it is surrounded by vast numbers of private residences.

In the early 1960’s the settlement was virtually unknown to the rest of the world. Travelers flew to Guadalajara, then took a small feeder plane or came by boat. There were no roads in to Puerto Vallarta and perhaps sixty Americans lived there in splendid isolation. Five taxis were available in addition a half-dozen jeeps which bounced over the rutted sand and cobblestone streets. Pedestrians shared their paths with chickens, pigs and an occasional goat. The electricity in the village was turned off at ten every evening and the kerosene lanterns which flickered through the windows created a sense of fantasy.

Ocho Cascadas

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico

Mexico at its Romantic Best!

Ed Giddings and other visionaries literally carved out of the jungle what has now become the “Gold Coast” of Puerto Vallarta.

Located in Puerto Vallarta, high above the Pacific with a magnificent view of Bahia de Banderas is a building of astounding beauty and scale; following contours of the hillside “Ocho Cascadas” terraces down eleven levels. At the top perches the two story penthouse, 5,500 sq. ft. of unequaled drama with its own private entrance through ancient hand-hewn doors.
